Massage after covid - what to expect.

The therapy industry has been thrown a major curve ball by the covid-19 outbreak, many of you likely watched events unfold and wondered how this may impact your business? For an industry that is based on touch, contact and connection - how can the therapy industry navigate new social distancing guidelines and still give a quality experience? Will we need to wear gloves? Will clients need to wear a mask? These are just some of the questions that were on our minds whilst we eagerly awaited guidance and instruction from our government.

Fast forward a few months and the therapy industry has found its feet in the new normal, and I'm hoping many of you really won't notice much difference except the added PPE - and will feel you can relax and enjoy your massage with peace of mind, as lets face it we all need to relax now more than ever! Months of typing over a kitchen table or juggling homeschooling and children running the house into chaos (I speak from experience here!), not to mention the mental toll like something such as global pandemic can take on a persons mental health and anxiety levels can be huge. Our minds and muscles have taken a hit like never before. Let us also not forget that a regular massage treatment is a useful tool to help boost your immune system.

I would like to keep things as simple and as stress free as possible so lets just look at the basics of what to expect, for a full covid policy outline please refer to the covid 19 policy section on the home page of the website. All guidelines will be sent out prior to treatments also.

Will you need PPE?

Yes, salon policy is that all clients must arrive wearing a mask. We understand that this may be uncomfortable whilst face down on a massage bed so you are able to take off your mask when undressing and place next to you on some sterile tissue paper, you will need to reapply your mask when you re-dress - or if you are facing upwards for leg, arm and shoulder work. Under current guidelines I must wear a visor, its likely I will also be wearing a mask for your protection also.

Can I pay cash?

Not at this time, bank transfer will be the only method of payment. Chip and pin methods will be available shortly.

Have prices increased?

Not currently, I have made the decision to keep pricing the same at the moment. However 30 minute treatments will be increasing by £3 in January 2021. Key workers, such as NHS and supermarket staff are able to receive a 10% discount on treatments until January 2021.

Have treatment times reduced?

Yes, at this time the maximum appointment time will be 60 minutes to reduce contact time, this will be reviewed in the Winter.

What do I need to bring?

Its a good idea to bring a bottle of water, a diary and a pen. Hot drinks and appointment cards are not currently being given out.

Things to remember:

Please do try to be on time for your appointment, a minimum 30 minute space is required between treatments to ensure the room is clean and sanitised and also to allow myself a fresh air break! If you are late your appointment may need to be rescheduled.

The waiting area is closed, so please wait in the fresh air outside or your car if you arrive early. Please come alone.

Aside from the above points mentioned the main thing you need to do is relax and enjoy your treatment, self care is more important now than ever, and with a few of these tweaks massage can be performed safely in a relaxed environment. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to get in touch.

Prior to your treatment I will be contacting all clients for an update on what they wish to work on during their treatment and for a quick check of possible covid symptoms. I am also requesting all clients take a quick temperature test the morning of their treatment.

All necessary paperwork and information will be emailed out prior to booking.
